BioDME Plant Inauguration September 9, 2010
“An important milestone was achieved today bringing BioDME closer to commercial deployment not only for the EU but for the global biofuel market”, said Kyriakos Maniatis, Energy Technologies & Research Co-ordination at DG Energy of the European Commission.
“Idag nåddes en viktig milstolpe i arbetet för att föra BioDME närmare kommersiell introduktion inte bara för EU utan för den globala biobränslemarknaden”, sa Kyriakos Maniatis, Energy Technologies & Research Co-ordination vid Direktoratet för Energi vid Europeiska kommissionen.
“Since the ground-breaking ceremony for the BioDME plant a year ago we have made considerable progress”, said Max Jönsson, Chemrec CEO. “In addition to the building of the BioDME plant and getting the Volvo Truck test fleet into operation also the process towards building an industrial scale plant at the Domsjö specialty cellulose mill in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, has advanced and the main technology providers have been selected”.
”Sen det första spadtaget för BioDME-anläggningen för ett år sedan har vi gjort betydande framsteg”, sa Max Jönsson, Chemrec CEO. ”Förutom att bygga BioDME-anläggningen och få testflottan i drift har vi också gjort framsteg med projektet för den första anläggningen i industriell skala vid Domsjö Fabrikers anläggning för specialcellulosa i Örnsköldsvik.”

BioDME from forest residues over the Chemrec process reduces net greenhouse gas emissions with about 95% compared to use of petroleum-based diesel oil, the traditional fuel for heavy road transports.
Till höger den nya BioDME anläggningen som invigdes den 9 september 2010 intill Chemrecs utvecklingsanläggning i Piteå. BioDME från skogsavfall reducerar nettoemissionerna av växthusgaser ca 95 % jämfört med användning av petroleumbaserad dieselolja, det traditionella bränslet för tunga vägtransporter.
The world’s first BioDME plant was inaugurated on Sept 9, 2010, in Piteå Sweden, to the sound of trumpets, played by students of the Piteå School of Music.
Världens första BioDME anläggning invigdes den 9 september i Piteå, till trumpetfanfar, framförd av elever från Musikhögskolan i Piteå.
