Syngas of excellent quality from Chemrec development gasifier

The Chemrec 3 megawatt development gasifier, that was started up in 2005, has now accumulated almost a full year of operating time producing syngas of excellent quality.

– The plant is a key instrument in our process and component development, says Ingvar Landälv, VP Technology at Chemrec. It operates at the process conditions required to produce syngas economically, using pure oxygen at around 30 bar pressure. In our scale-up work for the 25 times larger full-scale gasifier the extensive experience gathered from the operation of the development plant is an essential input.  We are also very pleased with the consistently excellent gas quality with ppm level tar and very low methane content. This means the gas from our process can be fed to a standard gas processing plant without special measures for tar removal or methane conversion.
